Canaletto 1697-1768  (Giovanni Antonio Canal - Venice)
11th April  -  19th August 2018
Museo di Roma, Palazzo Braschi.
Italy's capital celebrated Canaletto by bringing toghether works from some of the most important museums and galleries in the world.
On the first floor of a beautiful Palace overlooking Piazza Navona, this unique exhibition was clearly presented and beautifully displayed.
A similar show in London would have been overcrowded and oversubscribed. Fortunately not in Rome, where paradoxically, art lovers are few and mainly foreign tourists.
Please rise to the challenge and read the description of the mostra in Italian in the

Benvenuti al Sud"
(Welcome to the South)

Tuesday 9th October this very popular and seriously funny
contemporary movie about the divisions that still exist in Italy
between the industrious North and the lazy South, was greatly appreciated by all.
A thank you to everyone for turning up at the earlier time and to Steve and the committee for looking after the projection and the refreshments.

Festa 29th January 2019       “The athenians in sicily”

The illustrated talk by Iain Dickie was extremely interesting and very well attended,
and was enjoyed by all; despite the "technical" problem affecting the projection of the pictures.

Our thanks to Iain for the talk, to the committee for providing lovely food and drinks and to all of you who braved the cold to attend.

Elaine Stock
Sadly, our lovely friend Elaine passed away on the 19th of January.
All of us who had the pleasure of knowing her will always remember her amazing humour, vitality and captivating smile...                           See
