You decide which class is best for you, and are free to move to a different class if it doesn't suit you. Below are Summaries of what to expect to do in each of the four classes.

Beginners Class Summary
Objectives and Content
This class is for absolute beginners or those who have learned some Italian in the past and would like to start again from the beginning. The aim of the class is to learn and use the most basic Italian phrases and expressions that can be used to talk to Italians while on holiday.
Topics include:
We do not use a set textbook in this class, but at each lesson students are given a handout on a particular theme on which we work.

Objectives and Content
This class is for absolute beginners or those who have learned some Italian in the past and would like to start again from the beginning. The aim of the class is to learn and use the most basic Italian phrases and expressions that can be used to talk to Italians while on holiday.
Topics include:
- Italian alphabet and pronunciation
- Greetings and introductions
- Friends and family
- Ordering from the bar or restaurant
- Moving about the town and directions
- Travelling by train, plane and car. Timetables.
- Talking about time, dates and weather
- Shopping at markets, shops and supermarkets.
- Going on holiday Each lesson will also include some simple grammar. We will learn verbs in the present tense, perfect tense, imperfect and future tenses, as well as the use of essere and avere and reflexive verbs, plural of nouns, articles, gender agreement and the use of prepositions.

Usually each lesson includes:
- Vocabulary relevant to the theme
- Dialogue to be practised in pairs
- Simple passages to be listened to and read together
- Exercises and translations
At the beginning of each lesson activities from the previous lesson are revised. Students are encouraged to create a folder of the handouts and use it for reference and revision.
Improvers Class Summary
Objectives and Content
This class is for those who want to improve on the language skills obtained at Beginners's level or equivalent.

This class is for those who want to improve on the language skills obtained at Beginners's level or equivalent.
This class includes the following:
- Review of the main grammatical structures learned at Beginner's level
- Introduction to more advanced grammatical structures to include the conditional, subjective, imperative, gerund and use of ne, si and ci
- Development of reading, speaking and writing
- Knowledge of Italian Life and Culture
- Convsersation, debate and discussion
- Role play
- Pairwork & teamwork
- Group presentations
- Story writing
Intermediate Class Summary
Objectives and Content
The intermediate class is for those students of Italian that have an interest in furthering their knowledge of the Italian language above Improvers level or equivalent while also learning about Italian history, culture and way of life.
Content includes speaking, reading, writing, grammatical analysis and Italian history and culture.
Methods and Activities
Teacher and students all sit together around a large table to encourage interactions and ensure that everyone can see and hear the speaker. It is important for everyone to show patience and respect towards the person that is speaking. The aim is to create a friendly and encouraging environment.
All activities will be conducted in Italian as much as possible, with the teacher helping those less fluent to express their ideas.
Everyone in the class is given the opportunity to speak and to contribute to the subject at their own level while being supported by the teacher.

The intermediate class is for those students of Italian that have an interest in furthering their knowledge of the Italian language above Improvers level or equivalent while also learning about Italian history, culture and way of life.
Content includes speaking, reading, writing, grammatical analysis and Italian history and culture.

- Reading and translating a passage that may have been given in advance
- Talking about a given list of items such as books, films, cities, food etc.

Conversation Class Summary
Objectives and Content
Members are offered the opportunity to practice speaking Italian. There is no level of oral competency required and members are supported and enabled to participate at their own level. Only Italian is spoken and there is no agenda so that members are required to be spontaneous and engage in everyday conversation.
Methods and Activities
Members sit in a circle to create equality within the group and enable everyone to be seen and heard. Everyone is expected to direct their conversation to the group as a whole and avoid sub group interactions.
Everyone is given the opportunity to speak and is encouraged to respect the right of others to speak or just listen.
Members help each other out with vocabulary, grammar and searches in the dictionary.
