Tuesday 3rd March 2020 "Introduction to Italian Opera"
Presented by George (Mitchell) Robertson,
The presentation was incredibly well received by all. Mitchell's passion for Italian opera was infectious and gave us a wonderful insight to the world of Puccini and La Bohéme. We watched some of the best interpretations of the principal characters from different periods, coupled with the knowledgeable and interesting comments from Mitchell, who entertained us with his anecdotes from a lifetime experience of Opera loving. Thank you to all that came and and to those who helped with the refreshments.

“Pani e Tulipani”
A romantic Comedy directed by Silvio Soldini (2000)
This delightful comedy won many awards both in Italy and abroad and it was wonderful to see so many of our members enjoy its gentle humour and clever script.
We were therefore deeply sorry when the timed projecting system shut down five minutes from the end, leaving everyone shocked and disappointed. Some people managed to see the ending afterward, crowding around a laptop in the refectory. The best thing to do, however, is to get a
copy and watch this beautiful movie all over again....including the end!
